Job Summary

Turner Industries is seeking a skilled Turner to join our manufacturing team. The Turner will be responsible for operating lathe machines and other related equipment to produce precise components and parts according to specifications. The ideal candidate will have experience in machining, attention to detail, and a strong understanding of mechanical drawings and specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Machine Operation: Set up and operate lathes and other machining equipment to produce parts and components from metal, plastic, or other materials.
  2. Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to determine machining requirements.
  3. Quality Control: Inspect and measure finished products using various tools and gauges to ensure they meet required tolerances and quality standards.
  4. Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on machinery to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
  5. Tool Selection: Select and install the appropriate tools, attachments, and materials for specific machining tasks.
  6. Process Improvement: Identify and suggest improvements to machining processes to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
  7. Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.

Qualifications

  1. Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Technical certification or vocational training in machining or a related field is preferred.
  2. Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a Turner or in a similar machining role.
  3. Technical Skills: Proficiency in operating lathes and other machining equipment; familiarity with different materials and cutting tools.
  4. Mechanical Aptitude: Strong understanding of mechanical principles and ability to interpret technical drawings.
  5. Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and precision in machining tasks.
  6. Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve minor machine issues and defects.
  7. Communication: Effective communication skills for working with team members and supervisors.

Preferred Skills

  1. Advanced Machining: Experience with CNC lathes and programming is a plus.
  2. Certifications: Relevant certifications or licenses in machining or metalworking.
