Job Title: Turner (Lathe Machine Operator) – Pump Industry

Job Summary:

We are looking for a skilled Turner responsible for operating lathe machines to manufacture precision components used in pump assemblies such as shafts, sleeves, impellers, and housings. The candidate must ensure high accuracy, quality, and productivity as per engineering drawings.

Turners play a critical role in producing cylindrical parts with tight tolerances using lathe machines in manufacturing setups.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Operate conventional and/or CNC lathe machines for pump components
2. Perform machining operations like turning, facing, threading, boring, and grooving
3. Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions
4. Set up machine (tooling, job setting, chuck alignment, fixtures)
5. Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds
6. Ensure dimensional accuracy using measuring instruments (Vernier, Micrometer, Dial Gauge)
7. Inspect finished parts to meet quality standards and tolerances
8. Maintain surface finish and precision as per pump industry requirements
9. Carry out minor machine maintenance and cleaning
10. Follow safety procedures and 5S practices in the machine shop
11. Maintain production records and report any defects or issues

Key Skills & Competencies:

1. Strong knowledge of lathe machine operations
2. Ability to read technical drawings
3. Knowledge of pump components machining (shaft, impeller, casing)
4. Understanding of tolerances, fits, and surface finish
5. Familiarity with measuring instruments
6. Basic knowledge of CNC programming (preferred)
7. Problem-solving and attention to detail

Qualification:

1. ITI Turner / Machinist or equivalent
2. 2–5 years experience in pump or engineering industry

Working Conditions:

1. Shop floor / manufacturing environment
2. Exposure to noise, oil, and heavy machinery
3. Standing work for long hours
