Reports To: Design Manager / Engineering Head

Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to design and develop centrifugal, submersible, monoblock, and other industrial pumps. The candidate will be responsible for product design, CAD modeling, engineering calculations, BOM preparation, prototype development, and coordination with production and quality teams to ensure efficient manufacturing and product performance.

Key Responsibilities

Product Design & Development

• Design and develop pumps, pump components, and assemblies as per customer and industry requirements.
• Prepare 2D drawings, 3D models, and detailed manufacturing drawings.
• Perform design modifications and continuous product improvements.
• Develop new products and optimize existing pump designs.

Engineering & Calculations

• Perform hydraulic and mechanical design calculations.
• Select appropriate materials for pump components.
• Calculate shaft design, impeller dimensions, bearing selection, and tolerances.
• Ensure designs meet required performance and efficiency standards.

CAD & Documentation

• Create and maintain engineering drawings and design documentation.
• Prepare Bill of Materials (BOM) and technical specifications.
• Maintain revision control of drawings and documents.
• Support engineering change management (ECN/ECR).

Production Coordination

• Coordinate with production during prototype and regular manufacturing.
• Resolve manufacturing-related design issues.
• Provide technical support to the production, quality, and purchase departments.
• Ensure design feasibility for efficient manufacturing.

Testing & Validation

• Support prototype assembly and testing.
• Analyze test results and recommend design improvements.
• Participate in root cause analysis of product failures.
• Ensure compliance with customer specifications and quality standards.

Quality & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with ISI/BIS, ISO standards, and company quality procedures.
• Follow 5S and safety practices within the engineering department.
• Participate in quality improvement and cost reduction initiatives.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of centrifugal, submersible, monoblock, and industrial pumps.
• Excellent understanding of machine design, GD&T, and manufacturing processes.
• Knowledge of casting, machining, fabrication, and assembly processes.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.

Software Skills

• AutoCAD
• SolidWorks
• Creo / CATIA / Autodesk Inventor (Preferred)
• Microsoft Excel
• ERP Software (Preferred)

Educational Qualification

• B.E./B.Tech/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.

Experience

• 2–5 years of experience in pump design or rotating equipment manufacturing.
• Experience in centrifugal, submersible, monoblock, or industrial pump design will be preferred.

Preferred Candidate Profile

• Experience in the pump manufacturing industry is mandatory.
• Hands-on experience in pump component design, impeller, casing, shaft, and mechanical seal arrangements.
• Knowledge of ISI/BIS standards, ISO documentation, and engineering change management.
• Ability to coordinate effectively with Production, Quality, Purchase, and Testing departments.
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of handling multiple design projects simultaneously.
